Ingenious Women

by Deborah Jaffé

Ingenious Women is the culmination of original research relating to the hundreds of women who, before 1914, invented all variety of gadgets and devices. Some of them patented their ideas and registered designs, in their own names, at a time when it was extremely difficult for them to do so. Others are lost from the records as husbands and fathers claimed ownership of their wives' and daughters' ideas, registering them as their own.
