UK Intellectual Property Office
The UK-IPO is responsible for the UK’s IP framework. It is the statutory body for the delivery of patents, trade marks and registered designs. It is responsible for the development of copyright policy and the UK government’s domestic and international policy on IP.
The UK-IPO innovation directorate aims to help UK stakeholders and businesses make best use of IP and comprise extensive business outreach and education programmes, an innovation and knowledge transfer policy section, an economics section, a customer relationship management unit and central enquiry facility. UK-IPO works in partnership with the new independent Standing Advisory Board on Intellectual Property (SABIP) who is setting up work programmes to examine fundamental policy questions about the relationship between IP and the economy.
